Describe your childhood/growing up years (8-13 years old):
One thing that is more fleeting than summer is childhood. In my
childhood years, I played in the street with my playmates and ate
anything. It was pure bliss. During my childhood years, I was also
active in different activities whether in school or outside and my
parents were really supportive. It was also the time when I was able to develop the different God-given talents that I have.
What lessons did you learn from your childhood/growing years?:
The most valuable lesson I learned in my childhood years is that life
is full of challenges and surprises. I also learned to value and cherish
time. For most of the time, because we leave in a fast-paced world, we
forget to appreciate the beauty of life and what's happening at present.
I also learned how to keep an innocent and a compassionate heart.
Most memorable moment:
I have lots of happy childhood memories but there's only one, which I
really consider as the most memorable. It was during Christmas and new
year of 2006. For me, it's truly memorable because my family is complete
because my relatives who live abroad and that I haven't seen for the
longest time were all present. I consider it as my most memorable
childhood memory because it's really rare that my whole family gets the
chance to be complete during Christmas. We also had the chance to bond
with each other and have fun, there were lots of laughing and tears of
joy as well.
What is your ambition in life?:
My ambition in life is to become a flight attendant.
Why do you want to be Miss Philippines Earth 2013?:
I want to be Miss Philippines Earth because I’ve always wanted to be a
part of a beauty pageant that’s not only showcasing the physical beauty
of its candidates but also by having a cause and advocacy that its
candidates will live by. I am determined and I have the will in my heart
to use the beauty that God has given me in goodwill purposes and by
being an advocate of positive change in the society. I have also a
compassionate heart and the drive to actively campaign for what’s best
for our environment, that’s why I want to be the next Miss Philippines
Earth.
What is your environmental advocacy and why did you choose this?:
I have a passion for fashion and so one of my advocacies is to harness
the power of fashion to change the way the nation shops. I would like to
encourage everyone and fashion-conscious women to use eco-friendly bags
than the usual plastic that we use in the market. I would also like to
empower the youth in different fun activities in which they'll learn a
lot, and for them to be aware on what they can do for the environment.
Coming from the Organic Bowl of Asia, the Province of Negros Occidental,
it is also part of my advocacy to promote the use of organic food and
products.
What tip can you share to promote water cooperation in the Philippines?:
Barren forests also affect our water supply so plant trees to replenish our watershed

Describe your childhood/growing up years (8-13 years old):
I am very thankful that I was raised well by my parents. I still

she went out of the house to pray the holy rosary. We go to 2 houses a
day. That’s the biggest contribution why I have a strong spiritual foundation.
What lessons did you learn from your childhood/growing years?:
I was taught to pray and it has been the greatest weapon I carry til now.
Most memorable moment:
When I heard the news that my father died. It’s a memorable experience
because it’s the time where in my strength (physically and spiritually)
was tested.

Why do you want to be Miss Philippines Earth 2013?:
It has always been my dream. I want to be Miss Philippines Earth 2013
so I could work hand in hand with the different sectors of the
government to work for the renewal of our environment.
What is your environmental advocacy and why did you choose this?:

of commercialization of a certain city or province. I chose this because
this takes awareness to the group who has the highest influence and
authority in our environment which is the government.
What tip can you share to promote water cooperation in the Philippines?:
There’s only one thing I could share and it is to stop using water as a
means of business or if they do, they should at least consider the fact
that water is owned by everyone and every living thing that resides on
this planet. The mentality should be to share the resources that we have
specially water without any sense of greediness.

Describe your childhood/growing up years (8-13 years old):
I would describe myself as a late bloomer. During my childhood days, I
don’t have any worries except for my grades because I always aim
becoming a Valedictorian. I’m a very competitive person, most especially
in school. I don’t even like modelling and pageants at that time,
because I have a stage fright and I am more of a tomboy.
What lessons did you learn from your childhood/growing years?:
I learned that it is essential to explore other things and build self-confidence.
Most memorable moment:
When I was elected as a Sangguniang Kabataan councilor in our Barangay
is that I consider to be one of the most memorable moments I my life.

wish to be able to explore different cultures and learn from them.

the environment, so that the future generations can enjoy what we are
enjoying today.

Describe your childhood/growing up years (8-13 years old):
I have an ordinary yet a unique family. A father who is a good provider
and a great protector. A loving mother who shows genuine love and care
to her family, siblings who elicit respect to their parents. This family
with different roles and responsibilities who puts God in the center of their life and relationship to others. A family with a simple living.
Growing up as a child is the best milestone in my entire existence. My
childhood life is full of excitement. During those days I was able to
become a carpenter, cook, scientist, explorer, doctor, nurse, patient, a
priest, a nun, a dancer, a singer, a mother, a princess, a queen and
all other profession for free. When I was child happiness is everywhere.
Nothing can be compared.
What lessons did you learn from your childhood/growing years?:
I learned that In this world nothing is permanent; the only permanent
is change. Indeed growing up requires a lot of changes in all aspects of
life. The level of maturity increases, a wider perspective, a lot of
discoveries, mistakes that strengthens me as a person. The experiences I
had from my childhood until this stage of my life either good or bad,
made me a better person not a bitter person.
Most memorable moment:
I have countless memorable moments in my life but the most and
unforgettable would be, the time when I graduated from college and the
when I became a registered nurse. Indeed, this is the fruit of the seeds
that my parent’s sow. Despite of all the difficulties and struggles
that I have encountered, I can say that I have successfully won one of
the battles that life has prepared for me.
What is your ambition in life?:
I am a family oriented person that’s why my ambition in life is to give
my family a comfortable and better life. I want to provide them and
share to them the result of my hard works and the hardships that I
encountered.
And to practice my profession as a Nurse, to be able to help more patients to empower them and be and inspire them.
Why do you want to be Miss Philippines Earth 2013?:
I want to be crowned as Miss Philippines Earth because I believe in the
value of volunteerism. I believe I can give a huge help for the
environment and influence people to do their own share in saving Mother
Earth. I believe that great success always starts from a single step.
What is your environmental advocacy and why did you choose this?:
The value of VOLUNTEERISM is the root of all advocacies in preserving
and conserving our ecology. I chose this because each of us must realize
that environmental awareness and environmental acts won’t be enough if
not all people will engage to it. If each one will willingly and
unconditionally participate, devoting our time and effort to do our own
little share, saving Mother Earth will be successful.
What tip can you share to promote water cooperation in the Philippines?:
Safe water and sanitation for all. People still use unsafe drinking
water sources coupled with poor hygiene practices, kills thousands of
children every day, and leads to impoverishment and diminished
opportunities for thousands more. Without (water, sanitation and
hygiene), sustainable development is impossible, Our optimal well-being
will be compromised. We must take our part in improving water supplies
and sanitation facilities in schools and communities, and to promote
safe hygiene practices.

Describe your childhood/growing up years (8-13 years old):
My childhood was extremely full of activities. My mom signed me up for
all sorts of things, such as swimming, ballet, karate, and the list goes
on and on. Also, we moved to the sub-urban area of Montreal when I was 7
so it was around that time that I had to learn to be more sociable
and make new friends. Little did I know it didn’t take me much time to,
because I developed this “charm” instantly and I guess I’ve carried it
on since then.
What lessons did you learn from your childhood/growing years?:
My mom would always tell me “Marie, life is like a ball, it’ll keep
rolling and rolling until you want it to stop.” And my grandfather would
always tell me to never give up on anything, to always be persevering.
Most memorable moment:
My most memorable moment is the day of my graduation. I visited my
grandfather after and saw him all dressed up with my graduation hat and
robe. The smile he had on his face and that look he had when he saw me
was priceless.
Why do you want to be Miss Philippines Earth 2013?:
I would like to become Miss Philippines Earth because I will have
personal growth and improve as a person and I would be honoured to help
promote environmental awareness and make a difference.
What is your environmental advocacy and why did you choose this?:
Awareness in Pollution. I take the bus everyday to school and realize
how important it is to have clean air and clean environment. To
understand the importance of these is also a way to better the needs of
our environment.

Describe your childhood/growing up years (8-13 years old):
I have always regarded myself as a school girl. What is prominent in my
childhood years is the thought that I never actually had summer
vacations particularly during elementary years. From Grade 1 to 6,
straight, I spent my summers enrolled in a summer school just beside our
then home that's why family excursions
were rare. And whenever classes resume on June, I felt left out because I
had no beach or summer adventure stories to share with my classmates.
But nevertheless I consider my childhood pretty normal.
What lessons did you learn from your childhood/growing years?:
My grandmothers from both sides were teachers so I think giving utmost
importance to education was one thing they influenced my cousins and I. I
used to think back then that life was unfair. While my playmates had
their hands on their toys and were out in the streets, I was locked in
our grandmother's home clutching a book. But thinking of it now, I feel
privileged to have been brought up in such a way others would refer to
as a very disciplinarian method. The lesson I will be forever living to
is the capability to distinguish priorities and to learn how to set
aside the temporary fun in pursuit of a more important output that could
produce everlasting joy. I may have had a hard time understanding the
circumstances when I was a kid but really, now I am thankful I have a
family who guided me all the way.
Most memorable moment:
I
consider winning the Miss Bicolandia pageant held in Naga City the most
memorable moment to which I am very certain to remember for the rest of
my life. I've been chasing the Miss Bicolandia dream for five years
which included joining the pageant thrice. Failed twice and almost
didn't make it the third time when in 2010 I was confined in the
hospital because of dengue. Fortunately, upon the agreement to be
discharged only if my platelet count goes high, I was allowed by my
doctor to compete and to cut the story short, I brought back to the
hospital my most prized possession to date- the Miss Bicolandia crown.
What is your ambition in life?:
As the eldest in the family, my ambition is to see my parents happy and
to take care of my other four sisters and be a guide to their whole
being. I didn't always know what to do but I know the kind of woman I
wanted to be- successful, of service and doing something meaningful.
Why do you want to be Miss Philippines Earth 2013?:
Because I want to do something very important in my life.
What is your environmental advocacy and why did you choose this?:
The Philippines, being the social media capital of the world, has
millions of its people maximizing technology usage everyday. Regular
posts , topics and exposure creates a big impact on Juan de la Cruz'
life. Water is a precious and vulnerable resource and we must put it on
top of our agenda. My advocacy is directed to social media as a catalyst
for environmental awareness. It is focused on strengthening internet
usage in order to disseminate useful information on water and water
cooperation. There's still so much that the public doesn't know about
water and we need to address them. Start teaching one and we also get to
teach the others.
What tip can you share to promote water cooperation in the Philippines?:
Implement and strictly adhere to the rules inscribed in the Clean Water Act.

What lessons did you learn from your childhood/growing years?:
Growing up, I learned that life is an everyday battle.
Most memorable moment:
I consider being chosen as one of the Official Housemates of the
Reality Show Pinoy Big Brother among around 8 thousand auditionees.
What is your ambition in life?:
To build reputation in line of pageantry and show business.
Why do you want to be Miss Philippines Earth 2013?:
It is my dream to win my first National Pageant, to inspire people to
dream big amidst all hardships and also to prove that you don’t have to
be a big persona to be able to help the environment and the less
fortunate. You simply have the heart to reach out.
What is your environmental advocacy and why did you choose this?:
Spend time to communicate with nature by praying and meditation. I’ve
chosen this because it is beneficial to human health both mentally and
physically. Aside from that, we develop our concern for the environment.

The Philippines is a tropical country so by responsible water usage and storage we can resolve water shortage.

Describe your childhood/growing up years (8-13 years old):
During my childhood, I was brought up focused in my academics. Still,
beyond being a consistent honor student, it was first and foremost being
a good “ate” to my siblings.
What lessons did you learn from your childhood/growing years?:
I learned the value of obeying my parents first before complaining; the
importance of setting a good example as the eldest; and the
significance of doing well in school.
Most memorable moment:
My most memorable moment was when I received the Presidential Awardee
during our last recognition day in college. It is the most prestigious
award given in our school by the Brother President. It is memorable
because I’ve never seen my mom so proud and thankful to the Lord.
What is your ambition in life?:
My ambition in life is to become a CPA lawyer, work in the United
Nations, and then later on turn to a vocation on preaching God’s word.
Why do you want to be Miss Philippines Earth 2013?:
I want to become Miss Philippines Earth 2013 to be able to have that
voice that shouts environmental awareness. I want to be that trickle of
change that creates rippling effects, and to be one of those modern and
influential Filipinas that leave significant marks on today’s generation
and the next.
What is your environmental advocacy and why did you choose this?:
My environmental advocacy has always been promoting waste segregation
and recycling. I have been actively pursuing this for about seven years,
as its sustainability not only conserves natural resources, as well as
energy, but also prevents pollution. Anyone can do it, and it is always a
win-win situation for our environment and us.
What tip can you share to promote water cooperation in the Philippines?:
I can take advantage of the social media and be vocal about what the
Philippines needs as regards taking care of our water resources. Still,
more than spreading knowledge, I must take the initiative--one small
step at a time--in conserving water at home, at school and at work as an
example to my family, classmates, students and colleagues.

facets of my life. I dealt with people of different backgrounds with
different culture and ethnicity. Especially in the US, where I learned
to adapt with diversity and still be a Filipino in a foreign land.
What lessons did you learn from your childhood/growing years?:
One of the most important lessons in life that I learned during my
growing up years is the virtue of independence in where I discovered how
to live life, love life and laugh with life!
Most memorable moment:
My most memorable moment is when we won the National Model Family of
the Year 2010, it was such a great honor for me and my family to be
recognized by the national government despite of the challenges of
migration. We were awarded by no less than President Benigno Aquino III
and Vice President Jejomar Binay.
What is your ambition in life?:
One thing I want to do in life is to fulfill God's purpose in me to
inspire people through various outreach programs, especially building
people's esteem, alleviating poverty, and bringing environmental
awareness to our indifferent society.
Why do you want to be Miss Philippines Earth 2013?:
More than the fame and prestige, the glitz and glamour of Miss
Philippines Earth, I want to be an inspiration and encouragement to
other people by bringing the right information about the environment,
sharing right means to preserve it, while introducing them right
programs to elevate the quality of their living.
What is your environmental advocacy and why did you choose this?:
My environmental advocacy is summed up in three words: Awareness,
Action and Achievement. To empower people, you must first awaken their
minds and fill it with truth. Once they become aware, only then will
they act for advancement. And when people act upon a matter, there is
always an accomplishment. Just like in disseminating environmental
concerns, we need to spread awareness among our people, so they could
carry out necessary actions, and as a result, they could produce
accomplishments.
What tip can you share to promote water cooperation in the Philippines?:
Water Cooperation in the Philippines primarily concerns the
availability of potable water for the entire country. In order to
achieve this, we need an in-depth research for water systems and
treatment, then pilot a critical spot in the country, and test the
viability of the project. If this passes, the local and foreign
standards, then we could replicate this in the entire Philippines and
water is readily available for every Filipino - potable, safe and free
from any water borne diseases!

Describe your childhood/growing up years (8-13 years old):
I grew up only with my mother’s side. As an only child and the first
grandchild in the family, my early childhood years have been pretty
mollycoddling. My elementary years were very focused on extra-curricular
activities. I have been so much into
performing arts – singing, theatre, and dancing - but on top of them all
I knew I have always excelled in dance, particularly in ballet and
jazz. Back then in school, I always made it a point that I got to
perform and showcase my talent to a lot of people. At home, I honestly
do not remember feeling so lonely even though I had no siblings or
anyone to play with, and I do not recall myself being too playful as a
kid. The stage and the dance studio were probably my playground then.
Yet, I surely enjoyed it.
What lessons did you learn from your childhood/growing years?:
Growing up without a father figure, just as how histrionic as it may
seem, I knew somehow that I have become a man of my own and on my own. I
only had my mother to look up to, and that is one trait that I have
acquired from her at a very young age. I would consider independence as
the most valuable lesson that I’ve learned through my childhood years.
No matter how many people and how much those people are there for you,
at the end of the day you only have your self, your feelings, your mind,
your decisions, your endeavors. Now that I’m more grown up, I have
realized that you will never really know what’s waiting for you out
there in the real world until it happens to you, until you take the
risk. And if you don’t step forward, you will always be in the same
place.
Most memorable moment:
I have a lot of memorable
moments in life but among them all, I would pick my experiences with the
G-Force Dance Management as their dance trainee. I was only 16 and
being a part of the group was totally unexpected. It was my first time
to perform professionally but more than the dancing part it is how my
“ate’s and kuya’s”, Teacher Georcelle and Kuya Angel have helped me
mature as a performer and bloom as an individual. I remember being a
totally different little girl back then, and now all my experiences and
lessons that I have gained from them is a big reason why I have this
confidence and determination.
What is your ambition in life?:
First, is to become a beauty queen. Second, is to excel and be known in
the field that I am most passionate about which is Performing. Third,
is to have a successful pastry restaurant and to continue and expand the
business my mom has established. And last, is to make my family proud
of me in every way possible and hopefully at my right time, have a
beautiful family of my own that I myself will be proud of.
Why do you want to be Miss Philippines Earth 2013?:
I have always wanted to be an ambassador for the environment. And in
line with my ambition in becoming a beauty queen and my advocacy, I know
that Miss Philippines Earth 2013 may be the right title for my dream.
What is your environmental advocacy and why did you choose this?:
My environmental advocacy is Water Management and Conservation. Clean
and accessible water is indispensable to every living thing’s welfare,
and it has been acknowledged by history as a basic human right. However
in this century, encroaching matters are being faced by one of our
mother nature’s major elements such as being insufficient, inaccessible,
and unsafe in our ecosystem – which a lot of people are unaware of.
As an advocate of the Earth, I would like to focus on promoting and
addressing this issue. I believe that as a huge source of life, Water’s
sustainability must be preserved and balanced amongst everyone and
everything that shares this most precious natural resource our mother
nature has given us.
What tip can you share to promote water cooperation in the Philippines?:
Substantial stakeholders such as government and private organizations
can work together to ensure proper sanitation of our nation’s water
bodies and reservoirs; they must also secure an orderly dissemination of
water resource around our country most especially in pastoral areas.
Moreover, in our households, we can help conserve water by thoroughly
turning off faucets when not in use. We can maximize our water waste
such as watering plants instead of just throwing it anywhere; when doing
the laundry, we can further save water by proper loading. According to
National Geographic, use of low-flow showers can save 15 gallons of
water during a 10-minute shower.
Cliché as it may sound, I
really do believe that even the smallest thing can make the biggest
change. Through these simple ways, we can help EVAPORATE water
mismanagement in our ecosystem. And as one community, we MUST cooperate
for the sake of our country’s social, economic, and environmental
sustainability.

Describe your childhood/growing up years (8-13 years old):
I studied in a public school from elementary to high school. When I was
in 2nd year of secondary education, I went with my father, a jeepney
driver, in his trips. I helped him as a “conductor”. This is how I
earned my allowance. I never dreamed to become a model but I did. I am just a simple person, dreaming to become rich and to give my family a better life.
What lessons did you learn from your childhood/growing years?:
Never loose hope. Everything that happens is always for a reason. And
like what my mom says, “Walang pagsubok na ibibigay sa iyo ang Diyos,
kung alam Niyang hindi mo kayang lampasan.”
Most memorable moment:
It was such a memorable moment for me to be hailed as the Miss Marikina 1st-runner up.
What is your ambition in life?:
My dream is to give my family a stable life and to have enough savings for my future family.

Continuous implementation of the Adopt-an-Estero Program. Because, this
program is feasible and has been done in many communities who prove to
be successful in this endeavor.
What tip can you share to promote water cooperation in the Philippines?:
Time will come that there may be no clean water to drink. So we should
start cooperating to promote the preservation of our remaining clean
water supply.

is noble and meaningful.
What is your environmental advocacy and why did you choose this?:
My environmental advocacy is to promote safe and potable water so that
every household can have access to this resource especially in rural
areas. I chose this advocacy because I used to live in an area where
clean and safe water was not readily available and I know how hard this
experience was.
What tip can you share to promote water cooperation in the Philippines?:
The least tip I can share to promote water cooperation is to lead by
example starting in our community through the widest possible
information dissemination and public awareness campaign that water is
one of the most valuable natural resources in the world so we have to
conserve and protect water sources the best way we can.

Describe your childhood/growing up years (8-13 years old):
I belong to a quite big yet happy family. We are not rich, so we are
helping one another to sustain our needs and reach our dreams. I grew up
with my strict parents by my side. At 6:00pm, my siblings and I should
be in the house or we will be punished. We must follow rules as much
as we could. They also keep on reminding us to dream big, work hard for
it without compromising our good values, and considering the community,
the environment, and the bible in all our actions.
What lessons did you learn from your childhood/growing years?:
The lessons I have learned in my childhood years are first, following
the rules and regulations will never lead you the wrong way. Second is
that practicing the golden rule will always give you a clear conscience
and a good heart. Lastly, our parents’ love for us is unconditional, and
that we must learn how to show love and respect to them, so as to know
how to respect other people and the rest of the Earth.
Most memorable moment:
My most memorable moment is when I flew to China year 2011. It was my
first ever plane ride and I travelled alone to represent our country. I
almost cried when I saw the beauty of The Great Wall. I wish to share
such experience with my loved ones next time.
What is your ambition in life?:
My ambition in life is to be a successful TV host and/or career woman
in the field of Marketing, at the same time a beauty queen who can
influence or inspire other people to change for the better, to help my
family, make them and the people around me happy.
Why do you want to be Miss Philippines Earth 2013?:
Simply to achieve my ambition in life as stated above. That is, to be a
beauty queen who can be a catalyst of change, through
influencing/inspiring people to modify their lifestyle, for the
betterment of their lives and the rest of the Earth.
What is your environmental advocacy and why did you choose this?:
“LET’S ALL BE AWARE AND LEARN HOW TO SHARE! Information dissemination is the key to water cooperation.”
If we raise awareness on the potentials and challenges for water
cooperation, promote solutions for nurturing such, its benefits to us,
and what role we can play to be part of such great cause, we can
encourage people to share not just knowledge but water itself, until
such time that all of us knows how to manage our finite and fragile
water, ensuring benefits for all.
What tip can you share to promote water cooperation in the Philippines?:
I believe we should do campaigns for information and education of what we can do to nurture water cooperation.
