Eurovision Song Contest 2014 - AUSTRIA WINS !!!

Bidding phase:
So far five cities are considered to be the host city of the contest including Herning and Copenhagen which are the favorites to host. The Parken Stadium, located in Copenhagen, which hosted the 2001 Contest and the Jyske Bank Boxen, located in Herning, which hosted the 2013 Dansk Melodi Grand Prix were the first venues to join the bidding phase. Later Fredericia and Aalborg entered the phase with Messe C and Gigantium venues respectively. The fifth city to join the phase was Horsens with venue being the former state prison, Horsens Statsfængsel.

Possible debuts:
Kazakhstan – Kazakhstan is negotiating to join the European Broadcasting Union; should they join the EBU in time they may be eligible to compete in the 2014 contest.
Liechtenstein – Liechtenstein originally hoped to participate in 2013, but were unable to do so, due to state funding issues delaying their entrance into the EBU. Should 1FLTV gain the required funding, they too would be eligible to make their debut.

Possible returns:
Luxembourg – Alain Berwich, the executive producer of the national broadcaster RTL has recently stated that they would have no problem participating in the contest again.
Poland – Have missed the last two years after concentrating on broadcasting the Euro 2012 football competition.
Portugal – Missed the 2013 Contest for financial reasons, but did broadcast it regardless.
In addition to the countries mentioned above, Jon Ola Sand said to the press on 10 May 2013 that there have been talks with other broadcasters that were absent in 2013 that may potentially be interested in returning. These countries include:
Bosnia and Herzegovina and Turkey.

Czech Republic and Slovakia confirmed that they will NOT return in 2014.

You will propably won't see Greece in ESC for a loooooong time because the goverment shut down the National Television and Radio stations, we woke up one morning and our TV screen was black ...no sound, just black...it was spooky! I thought that alliens invaded the planet and then I saw the news on the Internet:x

Antique was popular in Poland, I remember as a kiddo songs like Opa Opa, Dinata Dinata and Die for you in polish tv. I like it more than "my number one" too.

Copenhagen has been chosen as host city of the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest, Danish public broadcaster DR announced this morning. The event will be held at the B&W Hallerne at the Refshaleøen, under the slogan 'Join Us'.

Conchita Wurst to represent Austria in 2014

Vienna, Austria -
The Austrian public broadcaster ORF has confirmed that Conchita Wurst has been internally chosen to represent the Central European country in Copenhagen. The song is yet to be chosen. Conchita Wurst, whose real name is Tom Neuwirth, has already participated in the 2012 national final, where she came second.
While the last three representatives of Austria in the Eurovision Song Contest have all been selected in a public national final, ORF have opted for an internal selection procedure for 2014. Today, the singer to represent the "Alpine republic" has been announced.
Conchita Wurst has already once tried to win the ticket to the Eurovision stage, in 2012, when she came second with the song That's What I Am behind Trackshittaz in the Austrian national selection. Previously she had participated in the "Starmania" talent show, where she competed against Nadine Beiler, the Austrian representative in the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest.

The new Greek National Channel ΔΤ decided to participate at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014!
One of the candidates for the Greek Entry is Lukas Yiorkas, who I absolutely adore!!!!!!!!!! Lukas participated in ESC in 2011!

The German contest has started on Monday. Musicians can submit their video applicatons via Youtube until January 22nd. The 10 best entries will get the chance to present themselves during a live concert on February 27th in Hamburg, which will be broadcasted live on eurovision.tv . One of them will win a wildcard for the final on March 13th, voted by the audience. The remaining 7 finalists will be announced mid December.
