Im sad for Switzerland too.....she was really gorgeous on her elegant white gown. Im not sure on Romanias chances if she had advanced on top 8 cause the gown she had was a tragedy. still though one of the most beautiful(if not the most) girls this year. As for spain i answered u in the thread Barbara made agenor always IMO.

Congratulations to the new Miss Earth from Phillipines! She is beautiful and looked very well in the final presentation.

In my planet, however, Miss Brazil was topping all the bets! . we miss here a hihger placement for her.

I ´m so surprised to see Miss Mexico that far, because she was not so stunning....

Congrats again Phillipines!!!!!!!!!!! one of the countries that lives so intensely the beauty pageants in your blu planet! You deserve!!!!!!!

Congratulations to the Philippines! I am sure she will make a wonderful Miss Earth. That being said I am a bit disappointed with the 2007 and 2008 winners in terms of physical beauty-neither are up to the standard of what I would call global queens. If ME wants to be an intelligence pageant then by all means people need to stop comparing it to MW and MU. I just don't get it how mediocre looking ladies keep winning -last year's top 4 all looked like a mess-at least this year Brazil and Tanzania both looked like they have something special. I just don't get it with their selection process.

On another note-whoever chose those ugly and unflattering swimsuits for the delegates should be fired immediately. Exactly what they were on when they chose those SS-I will never know!

miss earth is pretty notorious for using ugly-a$$ swimsuits.

Why keep on bashing the winners? well, it is very natural to all the people to bash other contestants because their bets did not win. However, that was the result and we were not there to see it live!!! What we saw in tv was not the real thing live shows were more different!!! well for me that was really fair? Too much for latinas to win and someone said in other forums that the pageant was so cheap!!! Who cares!!! whatever!! if it was cheap why is it claimed as the 3rd most prestigious beauty pageant!! And to all the people who could not move on the only thing i can say is that grow old people!!!

Yeah. It's the same on the other side. Nothing is different. It's the same bashing time again. There are still people who imposes their what-have-you criteria when they are not even connoisseurs in fashion and beauty. It is always gut feel, copycat fashion/beauty sense, and supremacy of certain features of a certain race (sounds familiar?). What's damning is that they try to point at themselves as ugly and plain in reference to a candidate that is similar to their skin color and facial structure.

Re: rehearsed answer. Well, the question is a pageant-patty one and it's reminiscent of the Miss U 90s as observed by one member here (or there). If this question (a derivative of it, actually), has been around since the Jurassic period and is being recycled year-in, year-out why can't you f*cking answer it correctly? Do you really have to sound stupid to call it fresh and unrehearsed? You joined a pageant for God's sake! You have to research and prepare. I think there's a fine line between eloquence/being prepared and nervousness. Have you heard about grace under pressure?

Miss Earth will always choose brainiacs since they "promote environmental projects to address issues concerning the environment." As such, eloquence and a certain level of education on their cause would be important. Beauty? I guess you have to ask the mirror on this one.

Re: hometown decision and prepared something, Carlene and Tamira were always pointed out as the best reps that we ever had. If we wanted the crown so badly, we could have done it from the very beginning and during their time or we could have crowned Catherine Untalan. We could have entered ALL our contestants year-in, year-out like USA in Miss Universe and Europeans (and English colonies) in Miss World in their more than 50-year history.

Karla has been my bet in Bb. Pilipinas because of qualities that was never unequalled by all contestants: stage presence, catwalk skills, eloquence, and beauty. She prepared well for the pageant and is a seasoned queen. Some of the best bets did not deliver and consider some aspects of your contestants that were overlooked, thus the non-placement. Watch the pageant again (not at youtube) and you'll know who they were.

Well, it's always like that. People will always be people. Nothing is different whether you're here or on the other side. In this situation, Lalo's advise has been my mantra. (Gracias for reminding me, senor.) If it is cheap, then by all means create your own pageant for us to enjoy it's glory and provide us an alternative. The point is, you can make your point without being crass or without an unfounded air of superiority.

All in all, I think the pageant improved from last year and that's a good indication. The winner clearly aced each segment. Likewise, the runner ups were seen the by the judges live and judged them based on a certain set of criteria on each segment. As such, I would take their judgement more than anybody else.
