Giselle Jeanne-Marie Laronde-West became the winner of the title of Miss World 1986. It was the 36th Miss World Pageant held in the Royal Albert Hall, London, UK on 13th November, 1986. From Trinidad and Tobago Giselle Jeanne was the first woman who became Miss World.

Pia Rosenberg Larsen - “Queen of Europe” was the runner up representing Denmark and Chantal Schreiber was third from Austria.

Giselle Jeanne, who was crowned as Miss World, was born on October 24, 1963, in Port of Spain. But at the age of 10 years old, she moved to San Fernando with her family.

The prize money which she won as Miss World used to attend the London University. She completed her degree in Sociology and Communication at London University. Laronde–West was also awarded the “Chaconia Medal”. Giselle Jeanne is the “Corporate Communication Manager” with Angostura Ltd. Giselle Jeanne- Marie Laronde-West also lives in Trinidad & Tobago.
