Poland`s Agnieszka KotlarskaAgnieszka was stabbed to death by a stalker on August 27, 1996. The attack also injured her husband, Jarosław Świątek. Her 2-year-old daughter was a witness to the attack.

Ada Perkins, Miss Puerto Rico 1978, she went to MU but did not place in the semifinals, unfortunately she died in a car accident in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1980 at age 20.

SHE DIED LAST APRIL 25, 2006 AND WAS ONLY 46. MA. Rosario “Chat” Silayan–1980 Miss Universe third runner-up, actress and, most recently, TV host–died Sunday night after a two-year bout with colon cancer.

Chat Silayan is most remembered for her 3rd runner-up finish at the 1980 Miss Universe competition. Silayan lost to Miss USA Shawn Weatherly (who eventually, like Silayan, found a career on the silver and small screens). Silayan, daughter of late silver-screen legend Vic Silayan, now lies in state at the Sanctuario de San Antonio in Forbes Park, Makati City.

Maria Bujor, Miss Moldova Leisure 2008 dies in car crash
1/9/09 - Maria Bujor, Beauty queen from Modova dies in a tragic accident

Bucharest, ROMANIA — Moldovan beauty queen Maria Bujor died in a tragic car accident in Romania yesterday night. Last year she participated in the first ever edition of Miss Leisure, in China, where she was named 'Miss Elegance'.

The accident took place in the northeastern region of Romania, where Maria attended college. Police officials informed that she was driving on a road covered with snow and ice when the fatal accident happened.

Nafisa Joseph (28 March 1979 - 29 July 2004) was an Indian model and MTV video jockey. She was the winner of Miss India Universe 1997 and was a semi-finalist in the Miss Universe pageant.

Joseph hanged herself in her flat in Mumbai on 29 July 2004. She was to marry businessman Gautam Khanduja in a few weeks' time. According to her parents, Joseph took the step because her marriage was called off. This was due to Joseph having discovered that Khanduja was still married, although having told her he had been divorced for two years. When confronted, Khanduja refused to answer questions about his marital life or produce divorce papers that he had previously claimed he had filed. Instead, press reports at the time mention that he then threatened her with blackmail, probably after she threatened to confront his wife.

Joseph's parents filed a police report accusing her fiancé of abetting her death, claiming that Khanduja had been desperate to get out of the wedding for some time, and sought his custodial interrogation. In November 2005, the trial against Khanduja was stayed by the Bombay High Court until January 2006. The Supreme Court ordered that the case be put on a fast-track court, but as of March 2006, the case was yet to come up for hearing.

Khanduja claimed that there was no evidence to prove that breaking off the engagement had led to Joseph's suicide. He pointed out that Joseph's earlier engagements to Sameer Malhotra and Sameer Soni had also ended.

One year after Joseph's death, her friend and co-star in the television serial C.A.T.S, actress and model Kuljeet Randhawa also committed suicide.

It is with great sadness we announce the death of Petra Schurmann, who won Miss World in 1956. It is very sad, particularly as she was expected to attend our 60th Anniversary in October in Vietnam.

We send our condolences and love to her family and loved ones.

After a series of Miss Worlds still in their teens, in 1956 Petra Schurmann, at the age of 23, became the fifth ever Miss World, and to this day, is the only winner from Germany. A student of philosophy and history of the arts, Petra returned to her studies after winning the title before moving into a career in television.

Over the years since winning Miss World, Petra worked on more than 1000 television programmes in Germany as a presenter, moderator and talk-show guest. By the time she retired to the shores of Lake Starnberg, south of Munich, Petra Schürmann had also written several books and worked as an actor. She died on January 13th 2010.

Alexandra Petrova (Miss Russia Universe 1999) was brutally murdered a few years after Miss Universe 1999.

On 16 September 2000, Petrova was killed by a single gunshot to the head while outside of her apartment in Cheboksary, two days before her 20th birthday. Her boyfriend, Konstantin Chuvilin, and his friend, Radik Akhmetov, were also killed in the attack. It was believed that the assailant had intended to assassinate Chuvilin, a crime boss, and that Petrova was simply a witness to the killing.

Marcelle Herro (Miss Lebanon Universe 1973) famous back home for having “the most beautiful eyes in the world”, sadly died in Lebanon’s civil war a few years after the 1973 Miss Universe Edition. She died in 1979

Monica Spears (Miss Venezuela 2005)

On 6 January 2014, Spear was in her native Venezuela on vacation with her ex-husband and their five-year-old daughter. While inside their car waiting for assistance after the vehicle had broken down on a highway in central Carabobo, Spear and her ex-husband were killed during an attempted robbery and their daughter shot and wounded in the leg. The police reported that the incident occurred around 9 or 10 p.m. It has been theorized that the thieves tried to rob them and the couple resisted.

On the initial suggestion that her former husband was Irish, the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs was investigating the incident. However, local police said he was travelling on a British passport. The international media also highlighted the rising rate of crime in Venezuela

Miss Illinois USA 1954, Celeste Ravel, a Chicago native, passed away this morning. She was the third woman to hold the title in Illinois and was 4th Runner-Up to Miriam Stevenson in the 1954 Miss USA Pageant.

Jessica Segui Barrios competed in Miss Earth 2003 as Miss Earth Panamá 2003 and won the Best National Costume. On September 27, 2010 Jessica Segui died in a Panamanian Hospital due to cerebral aneurysm.

Esther died on August 13, 2017 in Santiago, at the age of 89. According to El Mercurio, her funeral was at 1:00 pm in the General Cemetery.

Ana Bertha Lepe - was a Mexican actress of the Golden Age of Mexican cinema. In 1953, she was Señorita México (Miss Mexico) and the third runner-up at the Miss Universe contest.

Ana Bertha Lepe died on 24 October 2013, aged 79.

Martha Rocha - was a Brazilian model, the first winner of Miss Brasil 1954, and the 1st runner-up to Miss Universe.

In 2001, Rocha was diagnosed with breast cancer, but the disease was soon controlled.

In the last years of her life, she lived at a nursing home in Volta Redonda. She died in Niterói on 4 July 2020 after suffering respiratory failure which was followed by a heart attack. She was 87 years old. She was buried at the cemetery Santíssimo Sacramento, in Niterói the next day.

Moana Nui-a-Kiwa Hinemoa Whaanga was a New Zealand swimmer and beauty pageant winner. In 1954, she became the first Māori to win the Miss New Zealand title.

Whaanga died in Auckland on 15 November 2017, aged 82, following a stroke.

Isis Margarita Finlay was the 1954 Miss Cuba.

After she won the Miss Cuba pageant in Cuba, she traveled to Long Island, California for the Third Miss Universe Pageant. For the next 53 years, she traveled to 51 countries. She was the great-grand-niece of the well-known Cuban doctor Carlos Finlay (1833–1915). She had four children. She died on 24 May 2007 (aged 72)

María Isabel Arrieta Gálvez or Maribel Arrieta (August 22, 1934 – August 31, 1989) was a Salvadoran beauty queen where she represented her country at Miss Universe 1955 in Long Beach, California. Arrieta is most known for her strong resemblance to Marilyn Monroe, leading people to dub her as "the Marilyn Monroe of El Salvador". Arrieta ultimately finished as first runner-up, losing to Hillevi Rombin, but not before taking home the title of "Miss Congeniality". She is the first Hispanic woman to become first-runner up in the Miss Universe pageant.

In her last visit to her home country in 1985, Arrieta was awarded the "Orden Pro Merito Melitensi" from the Order of Malta in El Salvador for her contributions to the country. Arrieta died on August 31, 1989 from cancer.

Margit Nünke (15 November 1930, in Stettin – 10 January 2015, in Munich) was a German beauty pageant winner, model and actress.

Nünke became Miss Germany on 11 June 1955 after previously being Miss North Rhine-Westphalia. In 1956, she won the election for Miss Europe 1956. When Miss Universe contest in 1955 in Long Beach, California, they reached the final and 4th place.

She appeared from 1957 to 1965 in nine feature films and two television movies, and from 1984 to 1985 in the TV series A class apart with. Margit Nünke was the female lead in several films and was a partner of Peter Alexander, Gerhard Riedmann, and Toni Sailer, among others. As a singer, she recorded several singles, including a duet with Peter Garden.

Nünke lived in Munich with her husband of more than 40 years, actor Peter Garden. Garden died on 7 January 2015; Margit Nünke died three days later.

Hilda Isabel Gorrindo Sarli ( 9 July 1929 – 25 June 2019), nicknamed Coca, was an Argentine actress and glamour model, known for starring in several sexploitation films by Armando Bó, especially in the 1960s and 1970s. She began her career as a model and beauty queen, becoming Miss Argentina and reaching the semi-finals of Miss Universe 1955.

As the muse and protagonist of Bó's films, Sarli became the quintessential sex symbol of her country and a popular figure worldwide. After Bó's death in 1981 Sarli virtually retired from acting until the 1990s, when she appeared in a handful of film roles and TV cameos before her death in 2019.
