I am a Scottish-Filipina pharmacology graduate with a natural sense of curiosity. On a constant journey of self-discovery, I became The Face of Scotland 2009, a finalist in Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model Cycle 9, and an actress on Philippine’s number 1 TV Channel: ABS-CBN’s television drama “The Story of Us”. I have also had the incredible opportunity to work in Philippines, Spain, London and Singapore both in the fashion and technology sectors. When I entered the working world, I was a woman with low self-esteem and probably had been this way through high school, university and even up to the present day without knowing it. As I experienced feelings of anxiety, depression and isolation, I realised that I needed guidance and support to not only build my career, but most importantly build that belief in myself. Through reaching out to colleagues and friends, I came to the conclusion that I wasn’t alone. Since then, I launched ‘Self Esteem Queens’- a community of women that help each other in taking positive steps to become confident, inspiring individuals. The group aims to empower those around them so that we never have to feel alone.

I was born in Aberdeen twenty years ago and brought up in the small seaside town of Fraserburgh. I work as a leisure assistant at our local sports and swimming facility where I get to interact with the public on a daily basis. I aspire to go to university and study primary education so that I can inspire children to go on and be the best version of themselves as they grow up and to teach them that they can do anything if they put their mind to it. I love to dance and have done so since I was two years old, it gave me a way of expressing myself and I love the adrenaline of performing on stage. This developed into a passion for teaching children and young adults in various dance schools in the town, it’s a way that I can pass on the experiences I have had to those that are passionate about the same things. I enjoy travelling and learning about different cultures. I have been to many countries in the world but two experiences that stuck out to me was trekking in the Thai jungle and teaching children in Laos as part of world challenge. These were both life changing episodes that let me see the world in a different way, to see how happy the children were with so little really made me appreciate the life I have been fortunate to live, and gave me a desire to help those less fortunate in my area but also around the world. I’d love to win Miss Universe GB as I’d like to be a positive role model to all and I’d relish the opportunity to travel more and hopefully use my experiences to help develop my professional career.

I am incredibly proud to be of mixed heritage. Last year I was fortunate enough to visit my father’s home country of Jamaica again and fall in love with my heritage deeper. My next adventure will be to China to tick off the last box of understanding my family history. I am passionate about raising awareness for suicide prevention and mental health in young people. Growing up I suffered terribly with my mental health, and I believe this is because people didn’t know truly what to look out for. I am continuing my journey into schools to tell my story and hopefully change people’s perception of mental health. I believe it’s important to educate to recognise the signs. I am now truly happy with the strong female I have become, I hope to use my experiences to help others. I have found a love for my role working in the automotive industry. In a heavily male dominated environment, I love taking people by surprise and challenging stereotypes. I have competed in pageantry for several years now, but truly feel my time is now. The journey up until now has taught me to be proud of who I am as a person.

A lifelong commitment to sport inspired me to successfully complete a master’s degree in sports physiology, a BSc (Hons) degree in science and football, and graduate as a fully qualified teacher of secondary physical education. I have also raised more than £17,000 for charities. As a female who aims to lead by example, I have been privileged to work within the sports science departments at two professional football clubs, becoming the first female at one of those clubs. I don’t however agree with the concept that workplaces should have a 50/50 gender split. I instead believe we should be promoting a ‘boardroom’ that encompasses a 100% make-up of the best in the business regardless of gender. As females we need to empower and inspire women and girls to be the best they can, to work hard and never quit, so that when an opportunity comes, it doesn’t matter that they are female – all that matters is that they are the BEST person for it. As a football boot wearing sportsperson, participating in a ‘beauty contest’ isn’t stereotypical – but stereotypes are there to be changed, so ignore stereotypes, think outside the box and dare to be different.

Self-love and respect are very important to me. Over the past five years I have grown to understand that although loving yourself isn’t an easy destination to reach, your perception of this world changes incredibly once you’re there. I believe there is an omnipresent pressure in modern society to be seen, often by strangers on social media, as successful. My experience has taught me that only I can truly define what success means to me. I enjoy setting goals in all aspects of my life and know myself well enough to be ambitious yet logical in how to maintain and fuel the fierce fire which drives me to accomplish them. I enjoy learning and value my ability to communicate with others of any culture, religion, age and profession with warmth and respect. I am a very positive woman with a big heart and lots of energy! I fell in love with exercise through practising yoga and self-defence which led me to my platform, teaching women useful self-defence, to raise their confidence and have a better chance of survival should they ever find themselves in a threatening or violent situation. My dream is to use my energy, warmth and skills to make a big, positive footprint in our society, encouraging everyone to find their purpose, be that fitness, health or career related. My message to everyone reading this, is to make self-development a priority in life and to never stop learning.

Growing up in family of lawyers and scientists, it would seem natural for me to follow in their footsteps. But from an early age, I was drawn to the entertainment and creative industries, taking an interest in acting, modelling and photography. Not surprisingly, I now study commercial photography at the Arts University Bournemouth. In the last five years I’ve managed my own YouTube channel ‘LifeAsUdo’. I see YouTube as a creative outlet in which I can express my passions with like-minded people around the world. In secondary school, I had the privilege of being in an animated TV series and won a creative writing competition, making me a published author in the book ‘Mini Sagas’ - Essex & Kent. These achievements at a very young age inspired my continued zeal for acting and creativity, writing and making short films. Having a keen interest in the film industry, I would someday love to direct my own film. In furthering my career interests, my goal is to promote British talent, encourage the youth, females and minorities. I want young people to know they can achieve anything they work hard for, regardless of their gender, physical abilities, nationality and ethnicity. We all matter.

I’m a drama school graduate from Surrey. I’ve been a commercial and catwalk model since I was 16 and currently work within the fashion and retail industry. In my spare time I enjoy the gym, a cheeky cocktail and watching documentaries about almost everything. I am a passionate person with a dream to make a change and a long-term goal to become Miss Universe Great Britain. My goal is to inspire people to question themselves, “what can you do to help others?” and to use my platform to reach out to people and ask for help. To achieve gender equality, we need everyone involved. Sadly there is no country that can say they have achieved gender equality. Something which I feel is a human right. I would like to see women and men free from prejudice so people can become truer and more confident versions of themselves. I have been brought up surrounded by strong women, who have always guided me to strive to create the best possible version of myself; this is something I want to inspire others to do. I believe by entering Miss Universe Great Britain I have a chance to help the world. “The most common way people give up their powers is by thinking they don’t have any.”

I was born in South Africa to a Scottish father, from Dundee and a South African mother. After graduating high school with distinctions I moved to London to pursue my goal of competing at the World Equestrian Games, which I have achieved three consecutive times, first as a vaulter and twice as a show jumper. The love of sport runs in my family as my grandfather played football for Dundee. I am a singer-songwriter signed Sony Music Entertainment and Berkeley College of Music scholar, have had five #1 hits, travelled to 39 countries and every continent on earth and performed on some of the biggest stages in the world, including, Coachella Music Festival California, Ultra Festival Miami and the famous Viper Room in Los Angeles. In 2014 I launched my own initiative, Music Heals, which aims to help prevent young women and children from being sexually abused and equip them with skills to be able to make the most of their lives. I am proud to be an ambassador for one of the most significant child protection organizations, Women and Men against Child Abuse. I also have a passion for conservation and am a WWF and Helping Rhino’s ambassador. I believe that it’s not what you gather on your journey but what you scatter along the way that matters most.

I am a 24-year-old actress based in London after graduating from the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts & ALRA. I am a regular on the “Dark Ditties” series shown on Amazon Prime and have just been cast in the WWII series K-LINES, as well as several short films and commercial work. My father is a vicar and my mother a piano teacher, and I grew up in a modest, humble but very loving family. Wherever my father was relocated to, we worked closely with the homeless in the area, and a little while ago I partnered with Centre Point to encourage young women to seek help and find a safe place off the London streets. I also work in recruiting for the NHS and I place mental health practitioners across the UK. I want to get the most out of this great opportunity as possible and use it as a platform for helping and hopefully even inspiring others.

My Name is Andrea, I am 23-years-old and was born in the capital of Hungary which is Budapest. Both my parents are Hungarian. I lived in Budapest up to the age of nine-years- old until I relocated to Sheffield where I joined a primary school not being able to speak any English. Being put in a school where I had no one that speaks my language was quite a challenge, but I adapted very quickly and ever since then I've always overcome every challenge or obstacle in life. I went on to a secondary school which was such an amazing time of my life. then proceeded to college where I studied health care. After college, I decided to just go straight into work and save money to start my own business. Now I have started an online e-commerce business selling hair extensions and I am just in the early stages of starting a swimwear line. Business has always been my passion and something I aspired to do, My aim for the future is to empower women and help as many people as I can, as I got older I realized success, the true feeling of success isn’t about money it is about the feeling you get when you know you have helped someone. It would be a dream come true to win Miss Universe and bring back this amazing title for Great Britain and show young ladies that with belief, hard work and determination there are no limits to what you can accomplish.

I am 25-year-old Amena, born in London and lucky enough to be raised on the beautiful Channel Island of Jersey. I am proud to an engineer and deliver high class British vehicles across the world and would not be here today without my passion for education and hunger for success. Being able to strive in a male dominated industry has been one achievement of mine, but an even bigger achievement has been my ability to reach out across schools in the UK to encourage young girls to study engineering related subjects. My spare time includes a large amount of reading, writing and my favourite, being a YouTuber! I use my channel to spread positivity, humour and makeup tutorials across the globe. My subscribers would describe me as positive, glamorous and a little bit mad. In five years’ time, I envision myself continuing to break down barriers for gender inequality and collaborating heavily with powerful organisations that encourage young girls to follow their dreams and shoot for the stars. To those who say, ‘What if it doesn’t come true?’ I would say ‘Ah, but what if it does?’

My passion for property began as I grew up in a small village, watching my parents restore our home. By realising I should be following my dreams, I changed my university course from English, which I thought was my only talent, to construction management and property development. Now, at the end of my degree I will be a qualified site surveyor and manager, with the skills to develop my own properties. I have already begun to project manage my first home by attending local auctions, which excites me as I will be able to embrace the project as I live in it and take small steps towards the finished home. I am certain that this will make my confidence grow because I have thrown myself into a new situation, and I will be learning as I go along! Growing up in the English countryside as an only child, I was always reserved and preferred being alone. As a teenager, I always had aims of being unapologetically confident. Poetry aided me into becoming this woman, with Rudyard Kipling’s ‘If’ being a guide through life. I believe the ‘unforgetting minute’ teaches us to grasp every experience, good or bad, and embrace it.

I am over the moon to have been given the opportunity to compete at Miss Universe Great Britain. Having competed three times before, I know that this competition is a fantastic hub for like-minded women to come together, empower one another and spread positivity. I really enjoy travelling, and surrounding myself around different cultures. I have visited quite a few countries already, from Russia to USA. My aim is to visit every continent at least once in my lifetime. In my spare time I love to exercise, watch movies and read; but there is nothing I love more than viewing cat videos! As an individual I believe in honesty, respect and I am never shy to be the hardest working person in the room. I currently work for one of the largest construction companies in the UK where I make up only 30% of the workforce that is women. I strongly champion equal opportunities for women as well as equal pay. If I were to win the Miss Universe Great Britain 2019 title, I would use this platform to apply my best efforts at inspiring and encouraging women of all ages, races and abilities to believe in themselves, push boundaries and feel empowered to pursue any career path. Representing Great Britain at the Miss Universe finals would be an absolutely dream come true and I know that I would apply myself fully to make everyone proud and who knows, perhaps bring home the crown.

My name is Sarah and I currently live in Vietnam, where I teach English to Vietnamese children. I love children and I believe that every child should have an equal opportunity to a bright future. Unfortunately, this is not the case for a lot of children living in poverty. It is even more so for the girl child because in poorer countries, girls are seen as less important and more useful for domestic work. The boys are therefore given priority over the girls in going to school. It is my goal to help children in poverty stay in school but most especially the girl child as they are the most disadvantaged. Apart from teaching, I was driven to Vietnam by my love for travel. I have lived in Vietnam for over one year and I have been to more than ten cities around Asia since I relocated. Although I travel solo all the time, I have had many adventures. A special hobby of mine is pageantry. I love taking part in pageants because I believe it is a great way to develop your confidence and whenever I hear a misconception about pageantry, I do my best to challenge it with a positive message.

I’m Emma and I live in a coastal town in Carmarthenshire, known as the ‘Garden of Wales’. It is a picturesque region of our country, where I love taking long walks on the beach with my dog, Bella. I am a keen cook and spend most of my spare time in the kitchen, whipping up new dishes, while listening to music and singing along! My work as a presenter and TV makeup artist allows me the privilege of working on a diverse range of fascinating productions. Conducting interviews and meeting inspiring people from all over the country led to me being nominated for ‘Ambassador of the Year’ at the Llanelli Star Community Awards in 2015. I now co-host the event every year, celebrating brave and inspirational people. It is very humbling sharing in the recognition of such special individuals. Shockingly two women are killed per week by a current or former partner in England and Wales and this encouraged me to get involved with my local Women’s Aid branch. I have been a patron and volunteer for the last four years for the S.T.A.R project, a preventative workshop educating young people about the importance of safety, trust and respect in relationships. It was Nelson Mandela who said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”

Growing up I was surrounded by bodybuilders, my parents both compete, are personal trainers and also own a supplement shop. Much to everyone’s surprise I went down a much “girlier” path in life by becoming a makeup artist. Last year I won Celebrity Makeup Artist Of The Year 2018 and have even had my work featured in British Vogue. However, in September I’ll begin a veterinary nursing course and going back to my original dream of working with animals. When I was younger, I worked at a zoo and an animal sanctuary. Aside from animals, another passion of mine is helping the homeless. I volunteer at Sifa Fireside in Birmingham, a drop-in centre where the homeless can receive support finding accommodation. They can also get a hot meal there, shower get, fresh clothes and even have post delivered. There’s also nurse on site, support with mental health and a rehabilitation centre. Most centres are mainly male dominated so this year I began the Woman’s WORK-shop to empower homeless women. This provides a safe space for struggling women to come for any essentials they need but also have beauty treatments done, be inspired by a motivational speaker and receive help finding work.

I always aspire to be the best and happiest possible version of myself and hope that by participating in the Miss universe GB pageant it will inspire others to not only be comfortable and happy in their own skin but to follow their dreams and desires. I am a woman with great ambition and motivation. Raised by an influential woman, I have always been taught that I can be whoever I wanted to be as long as kindness was at the centre of decisions. I learnt ‘you can’t always be right but you can always be kind’. This will be my first timer competing for the title and for me this is not just a title or competition, it is an opportunity for me to make a difference and have a platform where I can reach out and help. You can’t go back and tell your younger self what you have learnt, but there will always be a generation of young people with the same doubts and anxieties that you experienced and I would love to use the title of MUGB to motivate, help and inspire young people on the importance of self-love and belief. In my spare time I will be found riding and caring for my two horses in the beautiful Devon countryside.

My name is Zania Linton and I am 24 years old and I am currently pursuing a degree in Bio-medical sciences, with aspirations of becoming a pharmacist. At a young age my parents registered me with a child agency at Ashcroft Academy for Performing Arts where I obtained awards in tap dancing, singing and acting I was also invited to participate in TV commercials and had a small part in the British comedy film Thurnderpants. The early experience of public performance gave birth to my desire to search deeper for my talents and to enhance the satisfaction of pleasure I would bring to others, At the age of 18 I was encouraged to enter a local Caribbean pageant and received a Miss Model title which then qualified me to take part in an international pageant in Albania where I placed as third runner up. I have recently been invited to assist delegates aspiring to become successful in a local pageant teaching the girls that beauty is beyond the outside look, you should love yourself, love your intelligence and love what you do to help others. “nil mihi est ardui” A Latin quote my father taught me translated as “Nothing is too difficult for me”.

As an enthusiastic six-year old, my favourite thing to do was perform and entertain my mum’s hair clients as they waited for their appointment on our living room sofa. This ignited a passion and spurred me on to study media and broadcasting. Now, instead of my mum’s hair clients I entertain hundreds of thousands of people in my dream job as a radio presenter. Twenty years on some of mum’s clients still tune in! My best friend in the whole world, Helen, was 88 years old. I’ve always had a deep desire to help others, which is how me and Helen first met when I started caring for her as a summer job at school. As a widow, Helen was always so grateful for the help that I gave her and the weekly lunch outings for our favourite coffee and cakes. She has always been a massive influence in my life and encouraged me to launch my own company. After Helen suddenly passed away it gave me a real drive to launch my own home help company which involves helping the elderly with daily chores, weekly grocery trips, assisting them to hospital and hairdressing appointments and taking them out for coffee to help with loneliness. I even named the company after her and it gives me great pleasure knowing her memory lives on through helping those in need.

Small town, south-coast girl with big dreams! Dreams for studies, travels, sports, impact in life…but my biggest dream of all is to live a happy life and have fun, while connecting meaningfully with the universe’s people, and experiencing the most out of our world. Sports were a big part of my upbringing, from a family of basketballers, I have played basketball since I was six which lead me to play for the south of England, and continuing into university and winning the BUCS trophy, twice. I also have a passion for yoga, gym and all things fit and fun! I am a University of Birmingham graduate with a 1 st Class Honours degree in International Business, which included a year’s internship in New York city. There, I interned at an all- women, award-winning PR agency and it was here that my passion for developing and encouraging female empowerment, was matured. A force to be spread across business and everyday life! Entrepreneur at heart, I own a Crêpe & Waffle business catering at weddings and festivals etc., while also working alongside my sister at Rolls-Royce in VIP hospitality, and modelling in my spare time as a creative outlet. Despite always being a lover of life, during my childhood and right up until university age I was the shyest girl you could imagine! My life choices have lead me to grow in confidence and develop myself into the woman I am today. I want to continue this development and to earn a louder voice to demonstrate to other shy girls just how far you can come with a sprinkle of self-confidence, and no matter if you have the experience in a certain area or not, if you set your heart, mind and energy on something, you CAN achieve it!

Hi, I’m Jessica, you can call me Jess! I’m 23 and from Liverpool. I have a degree in marketing and events management from The University of Chester and I’m proud to currently be working on a graduate scheme for one of the TOP FTSE 100 companies in the UK An interesting fact about me is that I’m a certified scuba diver. When I holiday with family and friends I try and dive in as many places as I can. I’ve always been a ‘water baby’ but diving has made me love water more than I ever have. One day I’d love to dive in New Zealand, and that’s because I’m part Maori. I’m often asked if I know how to do the Hacka, unfortunately I can’t but I’m going to get my dance moves out during the opening number at the final in July. I’m very much into health and fitness and I train twice a day if I can, this is for my physical strength but also for a positive mental attitude. In the past year, I recently turned to fitness on a more intense level, to stay focused and help my self-awareness. This is something I’d like to promote to young people, staying fit and healthy is a great stress reliever is the busy lives that we lead today. I live by the simple mantra of ‘you do you’, because we only get to write our biography once, and we want to be able to leave a good story behind. In the end, we only regret the chances we didn’t take.

Over the coming years I hope to graduate as a doctor in the field of Veterinary Medicine and travel some more of the world, when time allows. Both to help animals and the younger generation of people to heal, grown and learn. While doing so I hope not only to see what the land has to offer but also the sea. Last year I was lucky enough to achieve Master Diver and I hope to expand my knowledge while helping in the field of science and research and aiding in a plastic free ocean. My aim as young professional is to inspire other woman to peruse careers that they are truly passionate about, to help show them it is possible no matter how long it may take to achieve. Alongside this I have a passion for TV and documentaries having previously worked for the BBC and I hope to peruse this interest, taking the field of science and a love of animals with me, to get people up off the couch and out into the great outdoors, to pick up and book or start something entirely new.

Alongside this I have a passion for TV and documentaries having previously worked for the BBC and I hope to peruse this interest, taking the field of science and a love of animals with me, to get people up off the couch and out into the great outdoors, to pick up and book or start something entirely new.

I’m a 25 year-old with a career in online and digital marketing, who has a passion for travelling, love for music and an interest in fashion. I work 9 – 5, but I’ve decided to use my holiday to sightsee the world when I can and to capture every moment as I do. I’m trying to get the perfect work-life balance any 20-something can possibly get! I am an advocate for women empowerment and try to showcase this through how I carry myself on a daily basis. I've been raised and surrounded by strong, beautiful woman all my life so it is hard not to embrace this. This is what’s on my bucket list: To visit every Disneyland in the world (two out of four complete, I always believe to embrace your inner child regardless of age) To see the Northern Lights To visit as many countries as I possibly can before 30 To explore South America (Rio carnival, Amazon, Buenos Aires to name a few)

From the age of six-years-old, when I started martial arts, I knew my journey to being a powerful, strong and hard-working female started there. Going into martial arts made me the person I am today. My main goal in life is to empower women and be an inspiration to them. As I was growing up, I did a lot of activities such as gymnastics, swimming, piano lessons and street dance – all of which I really enjoyed. At the age of 15, I decided to go with my mum to the homeless shelter and helped out. I cooked, baked and just had a general chat with everyone. Then at 16, I got my first job teaching children martial arts. For me, sharing my skills as a martial artist and teaching children self-defence was an honour. At the moment, I am currently studying at Goldsmiths University, doing a drama and theatre arts degree. I have joined a lot of different societies such as football, taekwondo, drama and a Christian group. Doing all of this keeps me involved with uni life and enables me to carry on learning new skills. To take on a more active role, I worked as a student ambassador to help new students get to know about Goldsmiths and know what good university it is.

My name is Kally Santos. I am 25 years old, from London and I speak four languages. Growing up, I’ve always been involved in charity work. This experience made me realize that I needed to understand how businesses work and raise money before starting my own charity. Committed to my goal, I went on to get a bachelor’s in Business Management Studies and then start my own my own lifestyle company. My hypothesis was that this company would be a good gateway to get the right connections that I’d need to build a successful charity. I have been fortunate enough to travel often and get exposed to the various humanitarian issues that different cultures face. I’ve figured out that mental health is a culture and location agnostic problem that more and more people are suffering from. It is also something that I identify with personally, having been through a rough patch when I was a teenager. My current objective is to build the best understanding of the most common mental health issues that people face, and then raise awareness on how to address those issues. Being raised by a single mother who spent many years in the modelling industry I was taught that a woman’s real beauty comes from her ability to make a positive impact on others. I am constantly pushing my limits to do whatever is in my control to make this world a better place. I believe that the Miss Universe GB title can be the platform that I need to grow and extend the reach of my charity work. My dream is to fulfil this mission, and what better way to do it than with a family of like-minded women!
