24 years

I'm Ona Moody, 24 years old, born and raised in Amsterdam . My father is from Zimbabwe and my mother is from the Netherlands . After high school I did Lucia Marthas dance academy, but two years ago I graduated to be a midwife .
With my participation in Miss Netherlands I would like to inspire people . I think diversity and equal opportunity for all are very important . When I was younger I didn't realize that certain groups have less opportunity than others, but as I got older I found the inequality of opportunity very confronting . There is a growing awareness in our society about this, but there is still much to improve . I hope to be able to contribute to that awareness and empower young people to follow their dreams . Because everyone has the right to that!

Ona Moody was crowned Miss Universe Netherlands 2022 on Sunday, September 4 at Studio 21 in Hilversum.

The 25-year-old Zimbabwean-Dutch beauty is a maternity nurse living in Amsterdam.The new Miss Nederland, who was born to a Zimbabwean father and a Dutch mother, will now prepare to represent the Netherlands at the 71st Miss Universe pageant in the first quarter of 2023.

"I think diversity and equal opportunities for everyone are very important. When I was younger, I didn’t realize certain groups get fewer opportunities than others, but when I got older, I found the inequality very confronting," she said in her introduction for Miss Nederland.

"In our society, the awareness is increasing but there is room for improvement. I hope to contribute to that awareness and empower young people to follow their dreams. Because everyone deserves to do that," she added.
