MISS UNIVERSE T&T 2024 IS JENELLE THONGS!

Jenelle Thongs-Andrews representing Morvant has won the Miss Universe Trinidad & Tobago 2024 title tonight in Port of Spain. She bested a field of 10 delegates. Jenelle was crowned by outgoing titleholder Faith Gillezeau.

Jenelle’s court includes:
1st RU - Kimoi-Ann Felmine (Manzanilla)
2nd RU - Athaliah Samuel (Laventille)

Jenelle is no stranger to pageantry as she has competed in many regional and international pageants including most notably Miss Supranational 2021 where she placed in the Top 24 and was the Supra Chat winner.

Jenelle will now represent Trinidad & Tobago at Miss Universe 2024 in Mexico in November.

Chellowmellow, we all expected this. It was a sub-par slate to begin with and she was the obvious choice given how well she speaks. I don't see her placing unless there is some shocking improvement in her physical appearance. She is only 32 but her body is nowhere near top form for someone in their 30s.....Miss Grand Trinidad and Tobago 2024 looks more on point than our MU rep. Sad

As of now Jamaica is the leader for the English-speaking Caribbean for MU2024.

Jenelle will be fighting for the auntie woke spot that I am expecting at MU this year....right now Malta is ahead of her for that spot.

Can Peter E. do us all a favour and scout our next MU and MW reps? There is no reason why T&T should have such slim pickings to choose from.

I hope C&S are encouraging Amanda to train and re-enter at for the next cycle becuase right now, I would be satisfied with crowing someone with a chance of just securing a top 20 spot....and it's not like they don't know anyone....Soowan Bramble or this year's Top Model rep. if properly trainined could also give us a realistic chance of making top 20 at MU...and they could look at the Top Model TT 2024 finalists to find a decent rep. under 25 years of age.

FEW reasons for this shift is because:

1) The MW T&T Franchise has been the only CONSISTENT franchise (of the 2) when it came to sending reps EVERY year.
Unlike MU T&T where we had GAPS for years of not sending reps, which in turn leading to it becoming irrelevant.

2) Our past & present MW T&T Franchise Holders from Vanessa to Brian, then Charu did a much BETTER job of promoting MW T&T & had more resources at their disposal.
Whereas the MU T&T Franchise was plagued with controversy, lack of resources / sponsors & no clear structure, after years of being absent had a MAD WOMAN running the franchise (which didn't last long).

3) Then came C&S, who seemed to have potential, ONLY to reveal that they are WORSE in comparison to the previous franchise holder.

They treated Tya horribly & Faith distanced herself. Isn't it ALLEGED that certain elements sabotaged some reps?
They do VERY LITTLE to promote our queens & CANNOT handle CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM with the way they behave on social media. Rolling Eyes

4) All of the MESSINESS associated with the LOCAL MU T&T Franchise made things worse overall.
WORD GETS AROUND FAST so I assume that is why most women have NO interest OR lost interest in competing in MU T&T due to (see above).

5) JKN's leadership of the MU ORG, PUT THE NAIL IN THE COFFIN.
It left a sour taste in the mouths of NOT only locals but many pageant fans worldwide & for good reason IMO.

6) Miss World has been marketed to Trinbagonians as the pageant that's NOT SUPERFICIAL.....Whereas Miss Universe is viewed as the opposite. :-42r2-:yThis is MOST important in the generation that claims to want 'AUTHENTICITY' which is debatable IMO.
