"Blast from the Past"...Miss Bahamas Universe 2004 - Racquel Horton
Racquel Simone Horton won the Miss Bahamas Universe pageant at the Rainforest Theatre in May of 2004. She earned the right and the opportunity to represent her country at the Miss Universe pageant held in Quito, Ecuador.
Despite her natural beauty, stunning smile, lean toned body and Spunky personality (she had one of the best preliminary catwalks) she failed to make the top 15 even tho she garnered a bit of favouritism. 2004 was the year of the GLAMAZONS (WOW what a TOUGH YEAR FOR SHORTER GIRLS) where the average height in the top 15 was 5ft 10....Racquel Stood at a stunning 5ft 7".....but, maybe, if her sash said Trinidad and Tobago or India she would've been considered. I'm still proud at the fact that she was well spoken, poised and she gave her 110%....I cannot say that she was robbed because there were MANY, MANY, MANY, Stunning Beauties/Glamazons who were shut out that year (a la Ukraine and Greece....with Venezuela also missing the cut that year), but it would've been nice to see her called (She looked Stunning on finals night in the opening number).
Racquel is the first Bahamian woman to hold the title of Miss Teen Bahamas and Miss Bahamas Universe (Kiara Sherman, present Miss Bahamas Universe is the second). Presently she works as a TV presenter and host for the program "Tourism Today" that features events, activities and future projects in the industry of Tourism for the Bahamas. She will be remembered as one of the best Beauty Ambassadors to Miss Universe for the Bahamas in this decade.

well written yes i agree if her sash said trinidad and tobago she would have been considered. trinidad and tobago is a strong country who sends lovely well trained delegates which is why they always do well. this girl is very pretty it would have been nice to see her make the cut but oh well. at least she is pursuing her dreams. pageants are a way to get a step up in your career much sucess for her.

Thanks "tuc"... ...I have to hand it to T&T...you guys send some of the best well-trained and beautiful black/multi-ethnic women in the caribbean.....that is why I tend to root and support you guys each year....you guys are the standard.....getting back to Racquel....in my opinion...I believe that she was one of the most prepared delegates we've sent and not because of the organization (Gaynell doesn't do much), but because she took it serious and found the avenues to help with her preparation. Saw her recently......she looks like she can compete right now....she's looking great and doing well.

yes aiden trinidad and tobago has earned there right to place just about every year. i just wish the other caribeban countries would follow them and get there act together. you cant jsut send a cute girl and expect her to place. and the msis bahamas organization lately is not taking the pageant serious and just leting any girl buy the crown.miss bahamas world sends beautiful delegates the only problem was teaching the girl how to make herself standout amoung the rest. i'm hoping next year they can get it right. i have seen a few models from bahamasso its not like they dont have beautiful women. one day i hope to see bahamas in the finals
