This is the discussion of the day. My opinions are:
1) Rules are rules, and transex never was accept in MU. This is the rule.
2) When we accept trans, why not girls over 30?
3) When we accept trans, why not single moms? People will say: they need care her baby and will haven't time for her job!!!
4) But in this case, if accept a trans is a signal of the modern times, have a babysitter is a signal too. If we can have a trans MU, we can have a MU with a babysitter, and so the MUs have time for her job.

Rules are rules. If we 'open the door' for all different things, we will have a big confusion!!!

In Spain or Italy (?) the national winner can be married, but the rules are clear: they need accept the intnl rules of the pageants. So, the winner in these cases cannot go to MU or MW, for example.

Every pageant has its own rules... but i really dont like the idea that a transexual will compete in Miss Universe.... thats why there are international pageant for transexual

The Miss Canada Universe Organization has officially announced that transsexual contestant Jenna Talackova has been disqualified.
The Miss Universe rules state that each contestant must be a "naturally born female," and Miss Talackova, having underwent a sex change operation after hormone therapy since age 14, does not fit those qualifications.

Contrary to former news, Talackova was never told that she compete being transsexual or that she was an exception to the rule. Instead, according to Denis Davila, the national director of Miss Universe Canada, Talackova signed off on her registration form that she was indeed a naturally born female.

The contestant was questioned on her original sex on March 13, where she admitted that she was indeed transsexual. She was pulled from the contest that same day.

The Miss Universe Canada website states:

"Jenna Talackova from Vancouver, British Columbia will not compete in the 2012 Miss Universe Canada competition because she did not meet the requirements to compete despite having stated otherwise on her entry form. We do, however, respect her goals, determination and wish her the best."

The 61st annual Miss Universe Canada Pageant will be held at the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts (Bluma Appel Theatre) in Toronto. Sixty-five delegates from across Canada will be in Toronto from May 11th to May 20th and will compete for the title of Miss Universe Canada 2012, awarded on Saturday, May 19th, 2012. The reigning Miss Universe Canada, Chelsae Durocher will assist in crowning her successor before a live audience..

if they will allow her to compete in Miss Universe Canada... if he win and will represent Canada in Miss Universe

then many National Directors and pageant fanatic around the world will protest

this si not really a good idea... there are pageant for transgender Rolling Eyes

the rule is "the candidates must born as a natural girl"

Nothing against him/her, but rules are rules. For MU you have to been born a woman, there are many other pageants that can fill his/her needs if he/she wants to become a beauty queen.

IT'S NOT ABOUT GENDER DISCRIMINATION THIS CONTEST IS STRICTLY FOR YOUNG "NATURAL" GIRLS IF THEY ALLOW HIM OR HER TO PARTICIPATE THEN THE REPUTATION OF PAGEANTS WILL COME DOWN TREMENDOUSLY HE/SHE SHOULDN'T BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE HE/SHE IS A TRANSGENDER AND NOT A WOMEN

I don't think so. I would not vote her/him. She/he is a cheater. I would not be comfortable at all if I would get in love with a woman, then sleep with her and after that to tell me that she is a transsexual.

I don't think that he/she will do well! I think they use him/her for publicity and it's really sad!

Not making it in a pageant doesn't mean she won't make it in another pageant. Natalie Glebova just finished 3rd in Miss Maja Mundial 2004 which had only 26 contestants, yet she went on to win Miss Universe 2005. Angela Visser didn't place in MW 1988, yet she won MU 1989, and the list goes on.

I dont understand why some of you seem to be so afraid and almost threatened by her upcoming participation in MU Canada.According to Canadian laws, she's a female and she's always been, therefore, the rule of "natural born female" is discriminatory in that case. Also, she's got to win MUC 2012 in the first place and that wont be easy. She will be facing stiff competition from Katie Starke, Sahar Biniaz and other stunning girls.Moreover, its not as if all transgenders of the whole universe will want to compete in MU. The gender has to be recognized by the national government and not all countries recognize that. So people, just chill out!! PEACE

Im threatened not by her but by the other transgender (in Thailand,Philippines and other countries) who might try to compete in National Pageants too. In the future Transgender might dominate Miss Universe as candidates,i dont know if you like it

Anyway if it will be totally accepted i want to see Nong Poy Representing Thailand

@reyna_usa: no, she was born a male, that is for sure;however, according to Canadian laws, she's always been a female...there is no such thing as being a transsexual/transgender, etc...you're either a male or a female..period!!! Her passport and all of her legal documents say that she is a female, therefore, she is one! She's not a guy playing dress up as a female for the fun of it!
