Road to Miss Finland 2013

Miss Finland pageant has faced some changes this year.
For the FIRST TIME in decades Miss Finland will be chosen in May. MAY 5th.

Traditionally the new Miss Finland has been chosen in the beginning of the year, usually january or february.
But on June 2012 MTV3, that has been broadcasting the live telecast since 1961 decided to pull the plug and not continue airing the show anymore. They claimed it was no longer profitable for them to broadcast it. The ratings have not gone down, every year Miss Finland pageant is one of the most watched shows of the year. So their decision came as a suprise and the pageant was without a TV channel for months.

But no worries, the pageant has found a new home from LIV TV channel. But since it took so long to find a new "home", the organisation had to push the date further to the spring. So now, Miss Finland 2013 will be chosen May 5th.

This also means that Sara Chafak will now become the longest reigning Miss Finland




The search to find the new Miss Finland has now begun.  I will keep you updated.  

I always look forward to the Miss Finland pageant and Im a bit disappointed I have to wait until May to find out the Finnish reps for 2013. Anyhow, I hope they find beautiful representatives just like last year and I want Finland to place in both MU and MW...Finland is long overdue for a placement in these 2 pageants.

Miss Helsinki 2013 will be chosen tonight..... I could predict that at least some of the girls who will not win tonight will try for Miss Finland this year. Here are the candidates for Miss Helsinki http://www.misshelsinki.fi/index.php/finalistit

Casting will take place this saturday, March 23rd. 25 girls will be selected to go to the semifinals.

Semifinals will take place April 10th. And the 10 chosen finalists will be presented to the media on April 11th.
There the girls will leave to Turkey for a week and then they will tour all over Finland for the next 2 weeks.

Miss Finland 2013 will be crowned May 5th.

One more week and we will know the 10 finalists

Casting was held on March and we now have 25 girls who will take part in the semifinal round next wednesday.

And on thursday the 10 finalists will be presented to the media at 2pm

There's one from last year trying again. And another from some years back.

It's all very "shh shh", so I can't name them beforehand in public, but TWO returnees trying again.

Great batch. I like number 2-4-5 and 8. #5 is amazing and competed in Miss Supranational in 2010 and made it to the top20 and was awarded "Best Body". I think she would be the best choice for MU. For MW, I think #2-4 and 8 would be great choices and for MI, #4 and 8 would do a great job. Johanna Ahlback for the win!
