Sorry for the late reply, Bonner! I must have missed this.
Tennessee would be good if the pageant was held in Nashville. We have the Bridgestone Arena there and many big concerts are held there in addition to the arena being the home of the Nashville Predators hockey team. The Grand Ole Opry is here, the Parthenon in Centennial Park....not the glamour of some locales, but fun, friendly people and a naturally beautiful landscape!

I hope they announce the pageant will be in the Philippines just for you Bonner!

In the Philippines if we will be the host this year and it will be December then I will save money now for the ticket haha. For sure it will be so expensive like in 1994.

And it might be in Philippines Arena - this is in Bulacan province (the first province after Manila at the North) but still its so close in Manila so it doesnt look like a province

Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach revealed that she has been campaigning for the next Miss Universe pageant to be held in the Philippines.

As reported on Inquirer, the 26-year-old pageant queen, who is currently in the country for the upcoming Binibining Pilipinas, stated that she has been actively promoting the Philippines to be the next location for the event, although she admitted that she cannot say for sure that her effort will come to fruition.

“The possibility is always there. But it is a done deal? I don’t know. I can’t give you the answer. But we do want the pageant to happen here,” she said.

The first time the Philippines hosted the Miss Universe pageant was in 1974, with Spain winning the crown. It was last hosted in the country 22 years ago, where Sushmita Sen, now a Bollywood star, was announced the winner.

As for her pick for the next hopeful to represent the country, Wurtzbach admitted that there are a few who caught her eyes, but declined to name any names.

The host country was not announce yet. Hoax. The big announcement is the farewell walk of 2015 Queens and announcing of winners was held live on TV to avoid spoiler on social media. The rest is delayed telecast

So we wait at least an hour before our time and on TV will match for a live announcement

PH needs US$12M to host Miss Universe

THE Philippines would be needing more than $12 million (roughly P540 million) to stage the 2016 Miss Universe pageant, an industry source said yesterday. “It was five years ago when the computation was placed at $12 million. Perhaps the figures have changed now. It could even go higher than P500 million,” the same source explained.

The $12-million figure was based on the 2011 computed budget of Panama for the staging of the Miss Universe pageant in 2013. But in 2011, Panama dropped its plan to stage the popular show because the government could not afford it.

“We don’t even have $12 million for our annual advertising project,” said Salo Shamah, former head of Panama’s Tourism Administration. “Even if private companies were able to fund half the money that is needed, it is still a big hit to our government budget,” former Panama President Ricardo Martinelli said in 2011.

That time, the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) was owned by billionaire Donald Trump, who is now a candidate for the Republican nomination for President of the United States in 2016. In September 2015, Trump has sold the MUO, that includes Miss USA and Miss Teen USA contests, to the WME/IMG agency.
Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach has been in the forefront of the campaign to stage the 2016 Miss Universe contest in the Philippines. But the Filipino-German beauty queen said that the project is still under negotiations.

“It’s not a close deal yet. But I am actively campaigning for it. All of us in the Miss Universe Organization, we want the Miss Universe pageant here in the Philippines. Ito ang No. 1 choice namin. No. 1 on our list. And we are really trying to find ways on making it happen,” Wurtzbach told ABS-CBN.
The beauty queen said that the staging of the show also needs the approval of government and the private sector.

“How do we make that happen? We need the nod of the government. We need the help of the private sector. We need sponsors and people to get interested to reach out and unite to make it happen here. It would he such a pleasure for me to pass on my crown here in the Philippines. It would be great for tourism. It’s about time that we have it here,” Wurtzbach said.

It was reported in another news program, however, that Miss Universe 1969 Gloria Diaz is opposed to the staging of the contest this year saying that there are more pressing issues in the country that need to be addressed.

Reacting to the comment of Diaz, the country’s first Miss Universe, Wurtzbach told GMA-7: “Hopefully, kung makukuha natin yung nod by Board of Tourism, and the government, and the private sector, the sponsor and everyone who wants to get involved, we can get the pageant here and imbitahin natin s’ya (Diaz).”
It was in 2014 when rumors about the third staging of the Miss Universe contest in Manila swirled. The last time the Miss Universe contest was staged in Manila was in 1994 in which Sushmita Sen of India was crowned. The Miss Universe contest was held in the Philippines for the first time in 1974. The late Amparo Munoz of Spain won the title.

Pia is in Ecuador right now - for what reason?? Miss Ecuador pageant is done - So there is a chance it will be held here

LAS VEGAS, June 1st — Robin Leach, journalist and writer for Las Vegas Sun, published an article on Wednesday about the Miss Universe Organization planning to make Las Vegas its permanent home for their popular Miss Universe and Miss USA pageants.

In the article, Leach quotes MUO President’s Paula Shugart:

“Right now, we’re here for this show (Miss USA). But we definitely are looking at and we have started to talk about a long-term residency in Las Vegas for our pageants: Miss USA and Miss Universe.
“Look around — why wouldn’t I be back here? This is Las Vegas. Las Vegas is our second home. We’ve always put on amazing shows here. Our new owners, William Morris Endeavor International Management Group, love Las Vegas because it’s exciting — it’s great.
“They know how to put on events, and that’s really what they’re all about as far as what kind of show they can deliver. Frankly, we deliver the best shows when we’re here in Las Vegas.”
“I was only in T-Mobile Arena when they were building it, and it is a huge venue,” Paula continued. “I think you’ll see it’ll be pretty full on camera. The interesting thing is we needed more backstage room. We’re going to have 52 blow dryers going on at the same time. It’ll look good on camera.
“This will be a bigger show than Baton Rouge, and we have some great talent. The fact that The Backstreet Boys are kicking off their summer tour with this show brings a lot of excitement to it, and also with Chris Young.
“We’re bringing in a lot of great talent. Everybody loves being in Las Vegas, so we hope we will be calling this home for a long, long time to come.”

Leach mentions the return of Steve Harvey as host of the Miss Universe pageant in December.

Sunday’s Miss USA telecast will be presented by Terrence Jenkins and Julianne Hough, with the participation of model Ashley Graham as backstage host. The Backstreet Boys will perform during the live telecast on FOX.

Same here. I miss the old days when MU would be hosted in a different country every year or so. If its always in Las Vegas, its gonna get boring at one point. MUO/IMG have to reduce the fees for hosting the pageant. There is no way a government will spend millions and millions of dollars just to host a pageant.

MANILA – The Philippines is the frontrunner to host the next Miss Universe pageant, the new head of the Department of Tourism (DOT) said on Friday.

DOT Secretary Wanda Tulfo Teo told ABS-CBN News that organizers of the New-York based international pageant have laid out to them their plans for the country to host the next edition to be held in January.

Should it push through, Teo said that local tourism will receive a significant boost. She also revealed that the win of reigning Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach, the country’s first title-holder in more than four decades, influenced the decision of organizers.

Wurtzbach has been vocal about her support for the call to have the Philippines host a Miss Universe pageant again.

The last time the country hosted the global event was in 1994. Wurtzbach said she wants to pass her crown to the next winner, in front of Filipinos.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News in January, Miss Universe president Paula Shugart said she believes that this is the right time to hold the pageant again in the Philippines.

“For years, I’ve talked about someday having the pageant here. I do know that with Pia right now, the entire worldwide focus is on the Philippines. I think it’s a great opportunity. I would love to be able to make it work. We’ll see,” Shugart said.

Teo said that the government already has plans to make the necessary improvements to local infrastructure to prepare for the pageant if a deal is finalized. She also plans to hold talks with stakeholders and sponsors in the coming months.

According to Teo, she aims to attract more than 10 million tourists in the country this year with the help of social media and by continuing the success of the “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” campaign.

Miss Universe 2016 on January 2017 - It would be nice if the Pageant will be held here but it should be the Miss Universe 2017 instead and the 2016 edition just be held in Las Vegas - so there will be no any confusion with the year

According to the latest interview of Undersecretary Kat De Castro via PTV if the plans all go well, if it all becomes approved soon, we will have the Miss Universe pageant in the Philippines on January 29, 2017.

In the same report of PTV, once approved, the venue of the 65th Miss Universe pageant was revealed as well; it's going to be the Mall Of Asia Arena.
This would be the third time that this event reaches Philippines.
The Mall of Asia Arena is an indoor arena within the SM Mall of Asia complex in Pasay, Philippines. It has a seating capacity of 16,000 for sporting events, and a full house capacity of 20,000. The Arena officially opened on June 16, 2012.

Miss Universe 2016 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach arrived at the Malacañan Palace to discuss with President Rodrigo Roa Duterte the proposal to hold the next Miss Universe in the Philippines, Monday.
On her official page, the queen posted a short video of her as she made her way to the meeting. Likewise, she updated her Instagram account with the caption “Game face on #LabanPiaPinas” as she gathered up courage for the big day.

The Miss Universe wore a classy white dress and later changed to a pastel pink one-piece pantsuit for the meeting with Duterte. Of course, she also had on her sash and crown.

Prior the meeting at the palace, Pia dropped by the Department of Tourism for a talk with Secretary Wanda Corazon Tulfo Teo .

Pia had long kept her hopes up as she expressed on her Twitter account, “Fingers crossed! Hoping for the best! Please Lord!”.

Secretary Teo revealed the scheduled meeting early in July on an interview with ANC. She also mentioned her worries concern possible trouble in scheduling the night of the pageant.

Pia flew back to the country on July 16, Saturday.

As of posting, no announcements have been released regarding the #QueenPAndDu30 meeting, but, Pia Wurtzbach’s official page has updated the fans with photos of the queen having fun as she waited for the president.
