Totally different situations. The Universe pageant could be held in Greenland and it would still have the same winner as it would if the pageants would be held in LV. lol!

I'm not so against LV, both editions in 2010 and 2012 were pretty good. I don't remember editions from 90's Razz

I would love to see Philippines host Miss Universe. No doubt they would be a gracious and enthusiastic host nation. Hope we find out soon where MU 2014 will be held (just hope it is not on TV for 3 hours like Miss USA was....quite dull!)

Evandro Hazzy, one of the national directors of Miss Brazil Univ, said on Facebook that Brazil will not host the MU this year, but He revealed that this will happen in the next years again.

Baku, Azerbaijan: Possible Ms Universe 2014 Venue?

As of July 18 reigning Miss Universe Gabriela Isler of Venezuela has visited the city of Baku in Azerbaijan with Paula Shugart, the President of Miss Universe Organization. Molly was photographed touring the city especially in the UNESCO Heritage site the Maiden Tower with Miss Azerbaijan Universe 2014, Javidan Gurbanova.

Earlier this year it is rumored that Azerbaijan could be a possible venue for the pageant after Brazil has backed out on hosting. Baku, which is nicknamed the ‘City of Winds’, is the capital and largest city of Azerbaijan. The city has a very interesting mix of the old world and post modernist architecture. There haven’t been any official announcements of the final Miss Universe venue as of press time.

A strong rumor revolving around the internet now is the possibility of Azerbaijan holding the Miss Universe 2014 pageant. If it will push through, it will be in the Crystal Hall located in the country's capital, Baku. If you follow the number 1 TV show in Europe, the Eurovision Song Contest, the said contest was held there last 2012.

There's a photo online of Miss Universe 2013, Gabriela Isler together with Miss Azerbaijan, Javidan Qurbanova. Is this a sign? Not to mention that last year's performer Emin is a huge star in Azerbaijan and Russia and we all know how tight the relationship of this two countries are.

Personally, if this will be confirmed, I will be very glad. People from Azerbaijan are really supportive and they give a very huge welcome to people from different nationwho are visiting their countries. They are so rich in culture and they are so proud to share it to the world. I also think that they will spare no expense just to give us a wonderful production, staging and accomodation for the contenders and visitors. I am quite unsure though if people from Azerbaijan are into beauty pageants.

This is not yet confirmed, or may just turn out to be a rumor since the organization has not announced the venue yet. But if this will be confirmed, this is going to be a breath of fresh air, Azerbaijan is a very good host. I also think this could help motivate more Middle Eastern countries to participate in beauty pageants. Azerbaijan is a very rich country so they can definitely afford it. We are looking for signs on where will the pageant be, but hopefully, it will be an interesting venue.

I hope not...........

I was in Baku for Eurovision 2012. And while I agree that the locals were extremely welcoming and nice, the organization of the whole Eurovision was a mess. Half the people working there didn't know what was going on, the didn't know how to help us. The opening ceremony was late for like an hour and a half. Five minutes before the ceremony was supposed to start, the working men started to nail down the red carpet. Five minutes earlier!!! Then they walked with their sweaty socks on in it. So that when the artists finally were let out of the busses that had arrived in time (they had to sit and wait in the busses for the ceremony to start), they had to walk in a carpet that was filled with sweaty footprints from the workers. Just to name a few things....

Oh well, if this really is happening then I hope they have learned from their Eurovision mess. Rolling Eyes
